Portfolio Manager, EPA’s online energy rating system for commercial buildings, now includes greenhouse gas emission factors, agency officials announced on Sept. 28.
Portfolio Manager is an online tool that helps buildings take control of their energy to increase energy efficiency and help protect our environment. Organizations have used Portfolio Manager to benchmark the energy performance for billions of square feet of office buildings, schools, hotels, and other buildings across the country and thousands of buildings have earned the Energy Star for superior energy efficiency.
China to switch to energy-efficient lightbulbs

China, which makes 70 percent of the world’s lightbulbs, has agreed to phase out incandescent bulbs in favor of more energy-efficient ones, part of a push by a leading world environmental funding agency.
The transition could be made in the next 10 years, said Monique Barbut, chief executive officer of the Global Environment Facility.

Categories: Energy Efficiency, Meetings - Wednesday Oct 3, 2007 02:35The ENERGY STAR Change a Light Bus Tour will kick off on October 3, 2007, ENERGY STAR Change a Light Day, and will travel from coast to coast, stopping in 10 cities in 20 days. The tour is part of ENERGY STAR?s Change a Light, Change the World Campaign, designed to bring individuals and organizations together in a nationwide effort to save energy and help fight global warming, starting by encouraging a switch to lighting that has earned the government?s ENERGY STAR label for energy efficiency. Stops will be in Los Angeles, the California Bay Area, Denver, Des Moines, Chicago, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Maplewood, New Jersey, Boston, and New York City.
Local event sponsors in each of the 10 cities will help rally support to save energy at home and help prevent global warming. In addition, EPA will facilitate media events with local schools in Denver, Chicago, Atlanta, and Boston, featuring students and teachers, campaign spokespeople, and local leaders. Events will discuss the importance of energy efficiency and encourage individuals to take the ENERGY STAR Change a Light Pledge, a commitment to change at least one light at home to an ENERGY STAR qualified bulb. State and local governments across the country can join the campaign and promote energy efficiency in their community.
